6th Annual Midsummer Arts Dream

Please note: this exhibition has now ended. Due to illness the counting of the peoples choice winners will be delayed by a day or so. We will release the adjudicated and peoples choice winners by email to the participants during the week of June 19th, so please be patient with us. Shortly thereafter the prizes and certificates will be mailed by post.  We want to thank all who participated and came to view this, the most successful Midsummer Arts Dream, we have held!

Our 6th annual Midsummer Arts Dream 2 D exhibition will take place in the annex building beside Thompson Community Centre 5151 Granville Ave, between #2 Road and Railway, North side. This is the same location as the last few years and there is free parking and lots of room for our exhibition.  It will be held June 16 - 18th - June 16 from 6 - 8 and continues on Saturday from 10:00 - 5:00 and Sunday 10: 00 - 2:00.

There are four categories for the 2 d — flat — exhibition: art, photography, mixed media and textile. There are cash prizes for first, second and third place in all categories as well as an award certificate for peoples choice of each category. We encourage everyone who comes by to vote for your favorite, this is an important component for the artists to know what the public likes and is looking for.

This year we invited students from grades nine through twelve to enter and be juried. They have same categories and rules as everyone else and will be awarded prizes in all categories if applicable. The prize money for the youth is separate and will not take away from the non youth artists. We want to encourage youth in the arts, as they will become our future artists of note.

This year we have had great submissions and will be showing 70 plus total of all categories, from over 30 artists. There will be lots to see when the exhibition kicks off Friday evening at the opening reception with light refreshments and great live music in the background. The event is free to view and so is the parking so don't miss it!
